I don't know. There is physical damage to his lungs and heart, but no physical cause. It's progressive and it's killing him. His people know almost nothing of the illness, there isn't a cure.

He's a shinigami in his world, hence my call.

Illness is not common among shinigami, in my world at least. I know of a similar case in my home, but have been unable to cure it myself. [She considers it a great failing of hers, that with all her skill and knowledge and ability, she isn't able to help Ukitake-taichou live free of his lung condition.]

From what they were able to tell me, it's not in theirs either. The illness was rumoured to be legend until Alan caught it.

[He's fretting quietly, because he understands that kind of failing. And he's not sure if there is anything to be done.]

Did they mention any details of this legend? Though such things blur the facts a great deal, there may be a hint of truth somewhere within it.

No, just that there wasn't a cure. Stress, panic, anger makes his attacks worse.

There's something odd as well - it seems being Pulled here changed either him or the illness. He has what appear to be tattoos of thorn vines encircling his chest. He didn't, back home. But they aren't tattoos - or at least, they aren't ink.
